A sad day for us Tiger nerds as our Golf demi-god is out of the 2018 US Open in Shinnecock Hills, Tiger was not able to recover from the devastating round he had in day 1 where he scored 8 over par.
Tiger’s second day was much better as he was able to salvage a 2 over par game as he continued to struggle to come up with much needed birdies and pars and his nemesis hole no.1 still got the best of him on day 2.
Tigers two day score of 10 over par was not enough to carry him to round 3 as he missed the cut by 2 strokes and everyone continue to wonder when will be the first of many comeback trophies come.
Tiger started his day with a devastating triple at the very first hole and followed it up with a bogey in the second as he wasn’t able to zero in on his distance control with his second and approach shots.
His putting did not help either as he was not able to save par and bogeys when he needed to, Tiger looked broken at the back 9 as he was not able to recover at the closing holes and ended up 8 over par settling tied for 101st. He simply just had an ugly game and I hope he will be able to get it very low tomorrow to be able to make it to the cut line.
Though Tiger was not alone with a dismal round as most of the field really had a hard time taming the vaunted Shinnecock Hills.
Of the three of picks i have to win the US Open only Dustin Johnson was able make it under par and is tied 1st at the end of the first round.
Looking forward to the start of the 2018 US Open Championship tomorrow at Shinnecock Hills, and like most avid Golf fan, I have my personal picks to win this year’s US Open.
My 3rd Overall pick is PGA Bomber Dustin Johnson, he just regained his No.1 ranking after his win this week at the St. Jude Classic making him a shoe-in favourite to take the crown, although history is against him as no one has ever won in back to back weeks of the St. Jude Classic and the US Open, but who knows, there will always be the first time.
My 2nd Overall pick is Mr. Short Game Jordan Spieth, I like Jordan’s chances in Majors as he has always taken his game a notch or two higher in the Major stages and he is a pretty good finisher if he is contending or leading on a Sunday round.
My No.1 Pick!
I’m a TIGER NERD, Nuff Said!!!
