Tiger Woods is tied 5th after moving day Saturday at the Open Championships in Carnoustie, Scotland. My Dream of watching Tiger get his fourth Open Championship Title is very much alive after Tiger scored an amazing 5-Under Par 66 catapulting himself up near the top of the standings and giving the young guns on top something to worry about.
Tiger will be teeing it off later around 2:25 in the afternoon together with recent PGA winner Italian Francesco Molinari who himself had a low moving day score of 6-Under 65. Winds will be expected to be much stronger today compared to yesterday making it much harder to score low for those on top of the standings. Pin placements are also difficult today so I’m really looking forward to watching how Tiger will overcome the hurdles of Carnoustie and play good enough to catch up and overtake the leaders and get his 4th Open title.
On top of the heap is defending Open Champion Jordan Speith who played exceptional yesterday to grab pole position and will likely do everything to achieve a very special back to back Open Championship title. Jordan will be a very formidable obstacle to hurdle if Tiger wants to win today, I just hope that Tigers game would be a notch higher than those of Jordan, Kevin, Xander and Francesco later. GO TIGER!
Francesco Molinari came out the final round bringing with him his best game of the year as he demolished the field with an 8-under round and winning the tournament by whopping 8 strokes. It seems as Francesco cannot do any wrong as he hit the greens with amazing accuracy and sealing it off with unbelievable putting that seems to find the hole everytime.
The tournament was sealed by Francesco at the Par 5 Hole No.10 as he was already leading Abraham Ancer by 3 and he nailed a very long putt for eagle making his win a mere formality. This win is Francesco’s first in the PGA Tour and nothing can be sweeter doing it with Tiger in the field.
Tiger meanwhile settled for 4th place as he continues to chase his career 80th win which im sure is just around the corner.
Im pretty excited for tomorrow’s final round of the Quicken Loans National at TPC Potomac after Tiger carded a 3rd day 68 placing himself tied 10th with a 7-under total and very much in contention for the title tomorrow.
Tiger is now using a Mallet Putter which was very effective friday when he only 26 putted his way to a 65, though the designer of the putter Clay Long doubts he will stick with the tailor-made putter and will be back with his trusty Scotty Cameron Newport 2 GSS Putter pretty soon.
If you have a relationship with a putter, a good relationship with a specific putter, and then you’re always prone to pick it back up,
Long, 66, told USA Today Sports.
I mean, at some point he’ll pick that (Scotty Cameron) putter back up and go, ‘Boy, this looks good. Wow, man, I didn’t realize how good this looks,’ when he starts putting better or gets a little more confidence.
Abraham Ancer is currently leading the tournament tied with Francesco Molinari at 13-under. Tiger would need to overhaul a six stroke lead to join the winners circle of the 2018 season.
